ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jason Hawes, Port Angeles football

Our Athlete of the Week this week just wrapped up an amazing high school football career with an Olympic League defensive MVP award.

Port Angeles’ Jason Hawes was an absolute force for the Roughriders on offense, defense and special teams. He especially shined on defense from his linebacker position, getting the MVP accolades from Olympic League coaches. He was a huge part of the Riders’ 7-4 season and state playoff berth.

Hawes, also the All-Peninsula football MVP last year, tallied 135½ tackles, an average of 12.3 tackles a game, including 27 tackles for loss.
