ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kyra Neel, Forks volleyball

It was quite a week for Forks volleyball player Kyra Neel.

After winning three matches and losing two at the District 4 2B tournament, the Spartans went up against a Raymond team that had beaten the Spartans twice earlier in the season. Raymond also went undefeated in the Pacific 2B League. Forks had to beat that team to earn a trip to state.

Not only did Forks win, the Spartans won 3-0, led by Neel, who had 11 kills in just three sets.

Later in the weekend, Neel, who consistently led the Spartans in kills all year long and had a match earlier this year against Raymond with a remarkable nine aces, was named the Pacific 2B League volleyball most valuable player.
