Port Angeles’ Lauren Larson had a spectacular end to her freshman season on the Roughriders’ girls cross country team, capped off with a top 10 finish at the state 2A cross country championships held in Pasco on Saturday.
Larson’s finish played a big part in the Riders girls coming in ninth in the state as a team. She was one of only two freshmen in the top 10 and the sky is the limit to what she can accomplish in her next three years.
She finished 10th running the 5K course in a personal record 19 minutes, 23.5 seconds. Larson just kept getting stronger and stronger during the year, finishing her season with four second places, including a second at the Olympic League 2A championships. She also finished fourth at the West Central District III 2A meet.
