ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Lynzee Reid, Port Angeles softball

Port Angeles’ Lynzee Reid had a great week for the Roughriders softball team.

While the Riders have lots of senior leadership, sophomore Reid has contributed in a huge way this season and is a big part of the squad’s 6-1 start.

In the past week, she has batted 8-for-9 (.889) over four games. She had a double and RBI in a victory Saturday over East Valley and three runs scored and an RBI in another Saturday victory over Ellensburg. She also pitched against Ellensburg, collecting the victory.

Her best game of the week was Thursday against North Mason. She belted two home runs and drove in four runs. Against Bremerton last Tuesday, she was 3-for-3 with a home run and a triple, scoring two runs and driving in two. She also pitched a complete-game victory against Bremerton, allowing just one earned run and striking out five.
