ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mackenzie DuBois, Port Angeles girls swimming

Port Angeles’ Mackenzie DuBois has been a force for the girls swim team her senior season, helping to lead the Roughriders to a 4-1 record so far this season.

DuBois, a senior, has also already posted times automatically qualifying her for five events at the state 2A swim meet in November.

In individual events, she has qualified in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle.

DuBois also helps lead the Riders’ 400 freestyle relay team, with teammates Harper McGuire, Danika Asgeirsson and Yau Fu, that has also posted a state-qualifying time.

Last year as a junior, DuBois helped lead the Riders team to a ninth-place finish at state by finishing fourth in the 100 butterfly, seventh in the 100 IM and was part of a 200 medley relay team that finished ninth. DuBois and her teammates are looking to make even more noise at state this year.
