The Sequim soccer girls are repeating their habit of getting red-hot during the second half of the season and goalkeeper Olivia Hare is a big part of it.

Hare helped get the Wolves’ fortunes turned around in a 5-0 shutout over Kingston on Oct. 3.

Then, Hare had a truly heroic game against first-place Port Angeles that came in to Sequim undefeated last Tuesday. First, she stoned Roughriders’ superstar Millie Long on a pair of shots during regulation to force the game into penalty kicks after regulation ended in a 1-1 tie.

Hare then accomplished something you almost never see. She blocked not one, not two, but three straight Riders’ shots during penalty kicks as the Wolves took the penalty kick round to win the match 2-1.

You could forgive Hare if she had a letdown after that, but she came back Thursday with a 1-0 shutout over Bremerton as Sequim won its third straight league match. In nine days, the Wolves went from next to last to third place in the league.
