ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Lynzee Reid and Brooke St. Luise, Port Angeles girls swim team

For the 12th straight year, the Port Angeles girls swim team finished in the top 10 at the state swim and dive championships.

The duo of Lynzee Reid and Brooke St. Luise were a big part of the team’s success this year.

Going into the final event of the weekend on Nov. 16, the 400 freestyle relay, the Roughriders were outside the top 10 in 12th place. Reid and St. Luise were part of that relay team that had the Riders’ top finish of the weekend, fifth place, jumping the team from 12th to eighth in points.

Earlier in the meet, Reid and St. Luise were also part of a 200 freestyle relay team that finished seventh.

Individually, Reid finished 10th in diving, while St. Luise was 14th in the 100 backstroke, earning points for the Riders team.

It was St. Luise’s final meet for Port Angeles, but Reid will be back with Amayah Nelson to lead the team next year.
