PORT ANGELES — Swain’s repeated as Olympic Junior Babe Ruth champions by defeating Forks Outfitters 7-3 in the league title game at Volunteer Field.
Swain’s also won the Port Angeles city title and finished with a record of 16-1 for the second consecutive season.
The team shutout Westport 19-0 in last season’s championship contest on the strength of a strong performance by Dane Bradow.
This year, Bo Bradow delivered on the mound and at the plate for Swain’s in its championship victory.
He went five innings on the hill, and was 3 for 3 at-bat in his final Olympic Junior Babe Ruth contest.
Joel Wood added two hits for the winners, and was robbed of a third by a diving catch from Forks Outfitters’ Joe Reaume.
Milo Whitman also hit safely for Swain’s.
Whitman and Gavin Guerrero combined for a stellar 6-4-3 double play
Tim Adams pitched the final two innings for Swain’s, facing only eight batters.
Chance Wilson and Brett Moody combined for eight strikeouts for Forks Outfitters, but timely fielders choice and sacrifice flys with runners in scoring position kept the Swain’s scoring attack going.
Seth Johnson, Reece Blattner, Rob Anderson and Reaume all hit safely for Forks Outfitters.
Swain’s was managed by Tim Adams with help from assistant coaches Josh Wood and Jeff Lunt.
Adams and Lunt praised their squad for a great team effort.
It was the final Olympic Junior Babe Ruth game for Swain’s Bradow, Wood, Guerrero, Trevor Shumway and Mitch Knudson, and for Johnson, Anderson, Moody, Chance Wilson and Carson Ness of Forks Outfitters.
