EVERETT — The Peninsula College women’s basketball team fell in the opening round of the Everett Classic to the Spokane Bigfoot 54-34.
The Pirates struggled offensively, turning the ball over 27 ties and shooting 26 percent from the field (12 for 46), including 1 for 14 on 3-point attempts.
Only Gabi Fenumiai reached double figures for Peninsula with 10 points.
Fenumiai also grabbed 11 rebounds. Madison Pilster pulled down six and Pherrari Brumbaugh had five.
However, as a team, the Pirates (1-1) were outrebounded by the Bigfoot 50-39.
Riley Holsinger had 15 of those boards for Spokane. She also had a game-highs in points with 11, blocks (3) and assists (6).
Brumbaugh and Marissa Schwimmer contributed six points apiece for Peninsula.
The loss was the first of the season for the Pirates (1-1).
