BOYS BASKETBALL: Forks all 18s in win over Hyaks

FORKS — Forks was consistent on the scoreboard in a 72-35 Pacific League boys basketball win over North Beach, posting 18 points in each quarter and allowing a declining number of Hyaks points in each frame.

“That might be the first time ever I’ve had a team score the same amount in each quarter,” coach Rick Gooding said.

The Spartans were lifted by a team-high 14 points off the bench from Riley Pursley.

“He’s been very steady for us and I’m pretty sure that’s a career high,” Gooding said. “Riley can be a guard or big, and he’s wiry, stringy.”

Darren Horejsi added 12 points in just his second game with Forks. Trey Baysinger added 12 and Derrick Beebe made his debut for Forks with 11 points.

“He’s a really big kid and his sheer size and presence will help us out,” Gooding said. “His dad drives trucks and Derrick has been working to get his CDL license and been trying to get practices in. It’s nice to have another big body because one thing we aren’t is big.”
