PORT ANGELES — Basketball practice begins in less than four weeks and the Port Angeles boys are still looking for a coach.
Kevin Reinhardt, an assistant at Holmes High School in Kentucky, turned down the job because there isn’t a teaching position available at the school for the current school year.
“I would love to be the head coach at Port Angeles High School, but just cannot take the risk of not having a paid job this year,” Reinhardt said in an email to Port Angeles athletic director Dwayne Johnson.
Reinhardt, who had been offered the coaching job earlier this month, is a special education teacher at Holmes High School, which is located in Covington, Ky.
He thanked Johnson in the email for “all the hard work that you have done trying to get me a paid position.”
Johnson said the boys basketball head coaching job will remain opened until filled.
Job description and application information can be found online at www.tinyurl.com/pdnPABoysHoops (click Coach-Advisor bubble).
High school or middle school coaching experience is required. Collegiate basketball playing experience may be substituted for coaching experience.
Basketball practices start throughout the state Monday, Nov. 17.
