ODESSA, Texas — Port Angeles’ Ethan Flodstrom was named a LoneStar Conference player to watch before his senior baseball season — and has done plenty to garner attention this spring at The University of Texas Permian Basin.

The 2020 Port Angeles High School graduate, Wilder Baseball Club alumni and former Peninsula Daily News All-Peninsula MVP, had a pair of two-run doubles and drove in a team-high five RBIs as Flodstrom’s Falcons won their eighth straight game in a 20-10 win over Sul Ross State.

Flodstrom hits lefthanded and leads UTPB (21-16) in batting average (.383), slugging percentage (.591) and on-base plus slugging (1.098) and is second in total hits (44), doubles (12), triples (3) and RBIs (38). He’s also hit two home runs this season and converted on 9-of-13 stolen base attempts.

Defensively, the right fielder has recorded 51-of-53 attempts this season.

As a junior in 2023, Flodstrom earned Lone Star All-Defensive and All-Lone Star Conference first team honors after hitting .407 with 20 multiple-hit games, a hitting streak of nine games and 15 multiple run games.

He also had the second best on-base percentage in UTPB history (.497) and was among the top 10 in batting average, hits (61) and RBIs. Flodstrom was perfect in the field as well, handling 118 chances without an error.

Flodstrom also excels in the classroom resulting in him making the Lone Star Conference Commissioners Honor Roll for both semesters.

UTPB is 21-16 overall, 20-16 and in sixth place in LoneStar Conference play. If Flodstrom and the Falcons finish in the top eight, they’ll advance to the conference championships May 3-5.
