COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula men top Bellevue to clinch postseason bid

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula men’s team locked up a spot in the NWAACC postseason by beating Bellevue 69-63 Saturday night.

With the win, the Pirates avoid a tasking three-way tiebreaker scenario that also included Bellevue and Shoreline.

Had it lost Saturday, Peninsula would have to beat Shoreline at home on Monday night, and then win at Bellevue on Tuesday, in order to make the NWAACC Championships.

Instead, the Pirates head into the tournament with as much time to prepare as the other 15 teams.

The Peninsula women, who had already clinched a place in the playoffs, lost to Bellevue 76-71 on Saturday.
