VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Peninsula College women’s basketball team swept three games at the Clark Crossover Tournament, stretching its winning streak to seven games.

The Pirates crushed Spokane 70-50, beat Clark 69-61 on Saturday and Centralia 77-59 on Friday.

In Sunday’s game Shania Moananu led the Pirates with 16 points and Alex Mackey had 14 points and nine rebounds and Alecsis Smith came off the bench to score 13 to go with nine rebounds. Ciera Tugade Agasiva scored nine.

Peninsula’s sweep at Clark came after a three-game sweep at its home Pirate Classic last weekend.

The Pirates (8-2) take a break now for three weeks, returning on Jan. 8 for their first North Region game against Whatcom.

Saturday’s Game Peninsula 69, Clark 61

The Pirates’ game against Clark was close throughout with neither team able to build up a big lead. The Pirates went into the fourth up just four points at 52-48 but they were able to hold the Penguins at bay by hitting 8-of-11 free throws down the stretch.

The Pirates had good balance with five players scoring at least eight points and four players with at least eight rebounds. Agasiva had 14 points and nine rebounds. Jelissa Julmist had 12 points and eight rebounds and Alex Mackey had 10 points.

Makena Patrick added nine points and eight rebounds, while Carliese O’Brien scored nine points. Shania Moananu had eight points and nine rebounds.

Friday’s Game Peninsula 77, Centralia 59

Against Centralia, the women got up 18-6 in the first quarter and 41-24 by the half and never looked back.

Peninsula didn’t shoot great, especially from the free-throw line, but the Pirates had 14 steals to three for Centralia and outrebounded the Trailblazers 36 to 35. They also only made five turnovers the entire game. As a result, the Pirates got off 84 shots to 59 for Centralia.

Smith, normally a reserve, got the start and responded with 22 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Agasiva had 14 points and seven rebounds, while O’Brien had nine points and three steals. Moananu had six points and three steals and Mackey five points and seven rebounds.
