GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL: Neah Bay improves to 2-0; PA game suspended due to water leak

NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a dominant 61-43 win over Crosspoint on Friday night.

The Red Devils got big games from Qwaapeys Greene, Angel Halttunen and Cerise Moss. Greene shot 4-for-10 on her 3-pointers and led the team with 26 points. Moss also hit four 3-poiners and scored 14 to go with 12 rebounds. Halttunen had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Wiinuk Martin also had eight rebounds.

The Red Devils (2-0) played Saturday against Toutle Lake.

Bainbridge 66, Sequim 25

BAINBRIDGE — The Sequim girls basketball team struggled from the floor, making just 25 percent of its shots in a 66-25 loss to Bainbridge on Friday.

“We didn’t do much on offense and defense tonight they took it to us they played very well and shot the ball extremely well,” said coach Joclin Jumlist.

Gracie Chartraw had six points and four steals. Hailey Wagner had 12 rebounds to go with four points.

The Wolves (1-2, 1-3) next host Olympic (0-2, 0-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Port Angeles vs. Olympic, suspended

BREMERTON — The Port Angeles girls basketball team may get a victory from its game started with Olympic on Friday night, but it the players will have to wait to claim the “W”.

With Port Angeles ahead 32-23 with 3:35 left in the third quarter, the contest was suspended due to an air vent in the gymnasium leaking water onto the floor. The water on the floor made the surface unplayable, said coach Michael Poindexter.

“The likely plan will be to continue the game when Olympic visits Port Angeles on Jan. 24,” Poindexter said.
