GOLF: Clallam Amateur registration open

SEQUIM — Open to all amateur golfers, the 54-hole 2024 Clallam County Amateur Championship will be contested at Peninsula Golf Club, Sunland Golf & Country Club and The Cedars at Dungeness July 12-14.

Entry fees are $210 for the public, $175 for members/employees and includes three rounds of golf, range balls, prizes, raffles, KP prize entry and lunch on the final day. Cart fees are not included.

Players will compete at Peninsula Golf Club or Sunland with 9:30 a.m. tee times July 12-13.

The final round is a 9 a.m. shotgun start at The Cedars at Dungeness.

Everett’s Reese Jorgensen ran away with the 2023 Clallam Amateur, winning by 13 strokes after finishing the 54 holes at 6 under par.

Level the Field tourney

SEQUIM — The annual Level the Field Golf Tournament set July 12 at The Cedars at Dungeness will raise funds for Sequim High School students in financial need.

Hosted by the Sequim Association of Realtors, the tournament provides funding for Sequim students to participate in extracurricular activities.

Entry fees for the four-player scramble format event are $125 per player and include a box lunch, two mulligans to use during the round, use of cart, KP and long drive competitions and gross and net prizes.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Hole sponsorships also are available for $500 per hole.

Selective 9

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association enjoyed a Selective 9 competition on June 18.

Yoon Park earned the top spot in Flight One, followed by Marine Hirschfeld and Barbara Burrows.

Hirschfeld was closest to the pin on No. 8, with her shot within 1 feet, 7 inches from the hole.

Park was closest on No. 17, hitting it within 3 feet, 6 inches.

Peg Phillips, Bev Handshumaker and Carin Bunney were the top three finishers in Flight Two.

Phillips was closest to the pin for Flight Two on No. 8, knocking it close on her second shot.

Anne Rosecrants was the winner on No. 17, hitting it within 13 feet, 10 inches.

Hirschfeld and Anne Elwell tied for low putts at 32 while Phillips and Bunney tied with 33 putts.

Birdies were made by Park, Burrows, Phillips, Elwell and Hirschfeld.

Phillip and Kathy Langston also made chip-ins during the round.
