GOLF: St. John wins Clallam County Amateur

Two local golfers tie for best net

SEQUIM — Daniel St. John of the Stonebridge Golf Club won the overall best gross score at the 2022 Clallam County Amateur held at Cedars at Dungeness this weekend.

St. John shot a 220 gross to win by two strokes over Adam Columbia (The Home Course, DuPont). Local Jeff Jones (Cedars at Dungeness) took third with a 223.

St. John won with consistency, shooting a 74 on Friday, a 75 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday. He won a purse of $300, while Columbia won a $250 purse and Jones $200.

Winning with the net championship were Rob Price (Cedars at Dungeness) and Yoon Park (Cedars at Dungeness), both with a 210. They each received a $50 purse, though they won more money for winning their flight. Josh Milam (Riverbed Golf Complex, Kent) took third in the overall net with a 211.

The Flight 2 gross winners were Justin Ewing (Cedars at Dungeness) and Ed Klein (Highland Golf Course, Cosmopolis), who each shot 242. They each win a purse of $275. Bill Blacketer (Puetz Golf Club, Tukwila) came in third with a 248.

The Flight 3 gross winner was Park with a 262. She won a purse of $300. Tim Brown (Cedars at Dungeness) was second with a 266 for a $250 purse and Keith Beck (Cedars at Dungeness) and Marine Hirschfield (Cedars at Dungeness) tied for third at 271. They both won a purse of $150.

Milam won the Flight 1 net with a 211 and took home a purse of $300. Jade Tisdale (Peninsula Golf and Country Club) took second with a 215, taking home a $250 purse and Brandon Lancelle was third at 220, winning a purse of $200.

Gavin Velarde (Cedars at Dungeness) won the Flight 2 net with a 215, winning a $300 purse. Greg Simanson (Big and Little Dudes Golf Club) was second with a 219, winning a $250 purse. Ewing was technically third with a 222, but taking home the third-place net purse of $200 was Anthony Bubenas (Cedars at Dungeness) with a 226.

Price and Park shared the Flight 3 net of 210, each taking home a $300 purse. Steve Dryke (Cedars at Dungeness) was second at 220 for a $250 purse and Ted Potter (Cedars at Dungeness) was third at 224, taking home $200.
