GOLF: Sunland Golf Club holds member major championship

SEQUIM — Roger Olsen and Kelly O’Mera and Rena Peabody and Ruth Parcell are the overall men’s and women’s championship of the Sunland Golf Club Member Major Championship held last weekend.

Olsen and O’Mera combined for a score of 149 (77, 72) while Peabody and Parcell combined for a score of 169 (85, 84).

The men’s net championship was won by Dan O’Claray and Mike Mullikin with a combined 135 (67, 68) and the women’s net champions were Kathy Benedict and Sandi Gunn with a 138 (68, 70).

The overall and net champion teams won a purse of $77 each.

The Flight One winners were Brian Scheibner and Boert Mares with a 150 and the Flight One net winners were Tony Bubenas and Bill Benedict with a 136. These teams won $42.

The Flight Two winners were Mark Willis and Randy Hill (166) and the Flight Two net winners were Phillip Cardin and Bob Gunn (137). They all won $42. The second-place gross team was Alan Kowitz and tom Kummet (175) and the second-place net team was Dennis Bouget and John Elliott (139). These two teams won a purse of $20.

The women’s Flight One gross winners were Judy Nordyke and Bobbie Piety with a 173 and the first-place net team was Mary Fryer and Irene Schmidt with a 141. These two teams won a purse of $42.
