TACOMA — The Klahhane Gymnastics Xcel Team delivered a standout performance at the 2025 USA Gymnastics Xcel Washington Championships held this weekend.
Athletes from across Washington came together at the Tacoma Convention Center from Thursday to Sunday, with Klahhane coming away with multiple individual wins, several top-three all-around finishes and five local gymnasts qualifying for regionals.
The 2025 Xcel regional championships will take place in late April in Salem, Ore.
In the Xcel Platinum division, Elyse Brown and Carly Mae Riggs qualified for regionals by earning the required 35.0-plus all-around scores. In Xcel Gold, Raynee Ciarlo, Lorelei Sanders and Abigail Odland qualified among the top 164 athletes statewide, regardless of age group. This year’s qualifying all-around scores for gold ranged from 36.375 to 38.025.
These athletes will go on to represent Klahhane Gymnastics and Washington against top gymnasts from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana and Oregon.
The Bronze and Silver divisions end at the state meet. These gymnasts do not have the opportunity to move on to regionals.
Brown once again dominated the Xcel Platinum floor exercise, defending her floor champion title from last year with a stellar score of 9.575. She also won a bronze medal on the vault with a 9.075.
Sanders delivered a standout and consistent performance, earning the title of all-around Xcel Gold champion in her session. She also claimed the title of beam champion with a winning score of 9.4.
Ciarlo continued her streak as one of Klahhane’s most consistent all-around gymnasts. She finished with a 36.65 all-around, placing third overall in the Xcel Gold division. She also took second on the vault with a 9.15.
DePiro had a strong and consistent performance, earning a silver medal in the Xcel Gold bars with a 9.55. She also scored a 9.275 on the floor, finishing with a 36.175 all-around.
Odland had a strong bar routine, earning an Xcel Gold silver medal with a 9.65. She added a 9.4 on the floor and a 9.3 on the beam, finishing her meet with a 36.65 all-around.
Zayleigh McCullem consistently delivered top-tier performances in the Xcel Silver division. She was a silver medalist in the vault with a 9.575 and placed fifth all-around in her session with a strong 37.15.
Laquoia DePiro added to the medal count with an Xcel Silver third-place medal in the floor exercise and third in the floor exercise with a 9.4, closing out her meet with a 36.575 all-around.
Aubrie Huisman, Xcel Bronze, brought home the vault Champion title in her session with a 9.575, and added a 9.150 on bars to finish with a 35.750 all-around.
Kinley Matthews, Xcel Bronze, won the title of vault silver medalist in her division with a score of 9.300. She also placed second all-around in her session with a total score of 36.775.
