GYMNASTICS: Peninsula prep gymnasts finish second at home meet

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles gymnastics team came in a very close second at its home meet Monday held at the Klahhane Gym Center in Port Angeles.

The Roughriders, actually a combined team of Port Angeles, Sequim and Crescent gymnasts, totaled 152.75 points at the four-team meet, just behind 3A North Thurston at 157.70 points. North Kitsap came in third at 136.40, while Kingston finished fourth at 98.80.

Individually, Sequim’s Emma Sharp finished third in all-around points with 31.95 and Port Angeles’ Anne Edwards was fourth with 31.75 points. Madi Tanneberg of North Thurston took the individual all-around with 33.65 points.

Sharp and Port Angeles’ Aiesha Latourette each took first place in the vault with 8.70 points each, while Edwards came in third with 8.60 points. Port Angeles’ team won the vault with 42 team points, edging out North Thurston, which had 40.65.

Port Angeles finished second in the floor exercise with 43.45 points to North Thurston’s 45.05, second in the bars with 29.10 points to North Thurston’s 32.40, second in the beam with 38.20 points to North Thurston’s 39.60.
