HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Neah Bay boys and girls both win; Port Townsend boys advance

Neah Bay’s two teams and the Port Townsend boys all took a step forward in the high school basketball postseason Tuesday night.

The Red Devils boys and girls both defeated Muckleshoot on Tuesday night in a double-header at Crescent High School to advance in the 1B tri-district tournament.

The girls opened the evening with a 59-43 victory. Their next opponent will be Tulalip Heritage on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at Mount Vernon Christian School.

In the nightcap, the Neah Bay boys had a big first half en route to a 70-45 win over the Kings. The Red Devils will next face Evergreen Lutheran on Thursday at 3 p.m., also at Mount Vernon Christian School.

The Eagles earned a date with the Red Devils after surprising top-seeded Lummi on Tuesday.

The Port Townsend boys held off the Blaine Borderites, 43-42, to move on in the 1A tri-district tournament.

The Redskins will play Mount Baker at Mountlake Terrace High School on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Riders play Renton

Elsewhere, the Port Angeles girls now have an opponent for Thursday’s game in the 2A West Central District tournament.

Renton beat Kingston 53-26 Tuesday, and will now face the Roughriders on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. at Foss High School in Tacoma.

Wednesday’s games

1A tri-district tournament: Port Townsend girls at Overlake (Redmond) at 7 p.m.

2A West Central District tournament: Sequim boys vs. Steilacoom at Lakes High School (Tacoma) at 6 p.m.
