PORT ANGELES —Port Angeles slipped past Port Townsend 14-13 on the strength of big plays on both sides of the ball from senior Nathan Angevine on Friday at Civic Field.
Angevine’s 24-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Taylor Millsap on third-and-9, and the ensuing PAT conversion by kicker Ryan Beck gave the Roughriders a 14-13 lead with 3:12 left to play.
Angevine set up the go-ahead touchdown with a 36-yard scamper, bouncing out to the left edge and before being hauled down deep in Redhawks territory.
Angevine sealed the game with less than a minute to play, coming over the middle to step in front of a Jeff Seton pass just in front of the Port Angeles goal line.
The Roughriders (1-0) visit Vashon at 7 p.m. Friday.
Port Townsend (0-1) visits Bellevue Christian Friday at 7 p.m.

Moroles ran for scores of 61 and 38 yards and hooked up with Gavin Velarde for a 60-yard score.
Ty Jones also ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Wolves, Velarde had a 13-yard TD run and Hayden Gresli ran for a fourth-quarter score.
For the Cowboys, Drew Yackulic and Victor Hitt had touchdown runs and Lane Dotson returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown late in the game.

Mount Douglas 52, Forks 0
FORKS — The Spartans had a difficult time with one of the powerhouses of British Columbia high school football.
“It was a big learning time and provided a good chance for all our young kids to play,” Forks coach Mark Feasel said.
“I told the kids we can play a game and learn from it, or have practice and not learn as much, and I think the kids feel pretty good with how it went.”
Mount Douglas put up three quick scores in the first quarter and made all three 2-point conversion tries for a 24-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Rams led 31-0 at halftime and added three more scores in the second half.
Neah Bay 60, Ocosta 0
WESTPORT — Neah Bay stepped up in class to put a hurting on the Class 2B Wildcats in an 11-man football game.
“Our defense really stepped up,” Red Devils coach Tony McCaulley said.
“I don’t have stats in front of me, but they [Ocosta] might have had only one first down in the first half.”
Running back Cole Svec threw a 42-yard halfback pass to John Reamer just before halftime to make the score 30-0.
Reamer also recorded a safety, sacking the Ocosta quarterback in the end zone.
Neah Bay quarterback Cameron Buzzell also tossed a touchdown pass to Reamer.
“Cameron played pretty good, made good handoffs, showed some good ball skills,” McCaulley said.
McCaulley praised linebacker Josh Monette for his performance on defense.
“Josh played outstanding tonight, had a lot of tackles for us,” McCaulley said.
“Everybody played and our second group really played well in the second half.”
