LEFTIES: Port Angeles pitchers hold down Highline

Schmidt grand slam highlights 7-run sixth

PORT ANGELES — Three Port Angeles pitchers combined on a three-hitter in a 12-2 nonleague win over the Highline Bears on Wednesday.

Joe Sinclair struck out five in three innings to open the contest.

Preston Howey allowed just a walk and one hit in three innings with five strikeouts.

Steven Brooks was touched for two runs in the eighth, but he settled down to strike out three while working the seventh through ninth innings.

Coleman Schmidt’s grand slam highlighted a seven-run sixth inning and put the Lefties in cruise control up 10-0.

The Lefties (2-0) wrapped their series with Highline late Thursday and open a three-game road trip against Bellingham Friday at 6:35 p.m.
