LITTLE HURT: Little ones get out and get active

PORT ANGELES — More than 70 kids rode, ran and rowed around the campus of Peninsula College this weekend in the annual Little Hurt.

The Little Hurt is put on in conjunction with Saturday’s Big Hurt endurance race. Both events are put on by Peninsula Adventure Sports. Sunday’s Little Hurt was staffed by community volunteers, the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association, the Peninsula College women’s basketball team and Kiwanis Key Klub students. The race is made possible by title sponsor Bike Garage and presenting sponsor Phoenix Dragon Martial Arts, and with the support of the Peninsula College Associate Dean of Athletics and Student Activities Rick Ross.

The Little Hurt had categories with varying distances for first to second grades, third to fourth grades, fifth to sixth grades and seventh and eighth grades. There was also an untimed kindergarten/pre-K category. Kids rode and ran around the campus and then rowed on rowing machines provided by OPRA.

The Little Hurt is a non-profit race to show youth the joy of racing outdoors, and give them an opportunity to try a number of kinds of activities such as running, rowing machines and cycling. The event brought kids to the area from as far away as Surrey, B.C., and Oregon City, Ore.

Top three finishers in each category:

Full names are not available for kids under the age of 13. Full results can be found at https://tinyurl.com/2024LittleHurtResults.
