NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA PREP FOOTBALL: Port Angeles beats Sequim 37-21; other area results

SEQUIM — The running of Nick Lasorsa and Miki Andrus and a pair of second-half touchdown passes from Ryan Rodocker helped lead Port Angeles past Sequim 37-21 Friday night.

The win was the Roughriders’ first over their rivals since 2007.

Matt Robbins and Lasorsa had touchdowns for Port Angeles and Sequim quarterback Miguel Moroles threw two touchdown passes to set up a 15-15 halftime tie.

In the third quarter, Rodocker, a sophomore making his second varsity start, connected with Andrus for an 18-yard touchdown pass and Steven Lauderback for a 25-yard score to put the Riders ahead 30-15.

Moroles ran for a touchdown to cut into Port Angeles’ lead in the fourth quarter, but the extra point was blocked so the Riders maintained a two-scored advantage at 30-21.

After a failed onside kick by the Wolves, Port Angeles put the game out of reach with a seven-play, 50-yard drive that was finished off with an 8-yard touchdown run by Andrus.

With the win, the Riders improve to 2-6 on the season (2-4 in the Olympic League), while Sequim falls to 0-8 (0-6 in league play).
