NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA PREP FOOTBALL: Sequim, Port Angeles lose; Neah Bay wins big

SEQUIM — New Westminster scored 21 consecutive points in the second half to defeat the Sequim Wolves 35-20 on Friday night.

Sequim opened with a quick drive that was finished off with a 5-yard touchdown run by Adam Knapman to give the Wolves a 6-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. The big play of the drive was a 42-yard pass from Miguel Moroles to Brett Wright that advanced the ball to the Hyacks’ 24-yard line.

After New Westminster, which made the trip to Sequim from British Columbia, scored its second touchdown to take a 14-6 lead with less than five minutes to play, Brett Wright returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown. A two-point conversion tied the game at 14-14.

The Hyacks took the lead with 3:44 to play in the third quarter, and then scored on their first two drives of the fourth quarter to take a 35-14 lead.

Sequim added a late touchdown on a 3-yard pass from Dylan Lott to Wright.

Other North Olympic Peninsula games

Port Angeles fell to W.F. West 41-6 at Civic Field.

The Roughriders’ lone touchdown was scored on a long play by Matt Robbins near the end of the game.

■ Neah Bay showed what it could do with 11 men on the field when it beat Darrington 50-6.

The Red Devils, a 1B 8-man football powerhouse, played with 11 players on the field against the 2B Loggers.

On Saturday, Crescent hosts Quilcene, Forks faces Charles Wright Academy at Stewart Field in Aberdeen, Clallam Bay travels to play Wishkah Valley, and Port Townsend is at Granite Falls.
