Hike-a-Thon by United Way benefit set July 1

PORT ANGELES — Enjoy the great outdoors and raise funds to support United Way of Clallam County during this summer’s annual Hike-a-Thon from July 1-Aug. 2.

Entries are $40 for adults and include a T-shirt and vinyl sticker; $20 for children or pets with bandana and vinyl sticker, or $100 for a family with two T-shirts, two bandanas and four vinyl stickers.

Each Monday during the Hike-a-Thon a hiking challenge will be announced via email and through a private Facebook group. There’s no requirement to join the Facebook group.

Take photos of yourself during the challenge and share to the group or email katie@unitedwayclallam.org.

Participants who complete all five challenges and will receive a Hike United medal.

Grand prizes will be presented for the most hikes completed, most miles hiked and most elevation gained.

Sponsors also are sought.

WNBA salutes champs

SEATTLE — State championship-winning girls high school basketball teams, including the Class 1B Neah Bay Red Devils, will be celebrated at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday.

The WNBA’s Seattle Storm play their 7 p.m. contest against the Los Angeles Sparks.
