TACOMA — The Port Angeles soccer season came to an end with a 3-0 West Central 2A District loss to Fife.
Fife got up on the Roughriders quickly with a goal in the second minute on a corner kick. The Trojans scored a second goal in the 15th minute on a cross in front of the net.
“The Riders changed formations to try to generate some offense to get back in the game midway through the first half and again midway through the second half. “Andrew St. George fought hard in the midfield for Port Angeles all game and was the start of a lot of attacking play. Tom Lismonde also did well in the midfield winning balls and providing good distribution. Lorenzo DeLaTorre came up with several big saves to keep the Riders in the game in the second half,” he said.
Fife was able to score a third goal late in the second half.
The Riders finished the season at 10-7 and came in third in the Olympic League 2A Division.
The Riders graduate Grayson Peet, Jesse Salgado, Karsten Hertzog, Cody Brown, Sam Charles, Belgian exchange student Tom Lismonde, Italian exchange student Tommaso Begal and Leah Haworth.
Saari named DeLaTorre his defensive player of the match and St. George and Lismonde his transition players of the match.
