PORT ANGELES LEFTIES: Lefties raising funds to replace equipment stolen from press box

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties front office has started a GoFundMe campaign to help replace equipment stolen from a break-in at the Civic Field press box last week.

More than $5,000 of electronic equipment was stolen during the early morning break-in June 25. The Lefties were not able to provide livestreaming of one of their games in late June because of the theft, but hope to have it back up and operating tonight thanks to backup equipment.

The Lefties are hoping to raise $2,500 to help replace some of the cost of the equipment. So far, they have raised $320. People can go to www.tinyurl.com/LeftiesHelp or they can go to GoFundMe.com and search for “Port Angeles Lefties” to find the campaign.

Port Angeles Lefties Assistant General Manager Bree Sheafer said a personal laptop worth $1,500 was stolen, along with cameras and a soundboard. Some of the equipment is needed for livestreaming. A police report was made and the team has been checking local pawn shops and Facebook Marketplace to see if someone is trying to sell the equipment, with no luck so far.

Sheafer said Silas Crews of Story Crane Productions is working on restoring the livestreaming at Civic Field with backup equipment. Part of the money raised will go toward reimbursing him. Some of the personal equipment also belonged to Lefties Assistant General Manager Jacob Thrush.

“This has set us back a little. It was definitely a struggle last week,” Sheafer said.

The Lefties went on a road trip to Wenatchee and Nanaimo, B.C., after the break-in and return for a six-game homestand beginning tonight against the Wenatchee AppleSox.

To check the Lefties livestream tonight, people can go to WCL Live at www.wcleague.watch.pixellot.tv/ and click on the Lefties/AppleSox game on the bottom of the screen. The game begins at 7:15 p.m.
