POSTSEASON BASKETBALL: Neah Bay teams lose in Tri-District title games; Port Angeles, Port Townsend girls fall

MOUNT VERNON — The Neah Bay boys and girls basketball teams both fell short of winning 1B Tri-District championships by slim margins Saturday at Mount Vernon Christian High School.

The top-ranked Red Devils boys lost to No. 3 Tulalip Heritage 68-66 after Keanu Hamilton scored for the Hawks on a lay-in with 5.6 seconds left in the game.

Neah Bay will play the winner of Saturday’s game between Taholah and Wishkah Valley at regionals.

The Neah Bay girls rallied, but couldn’t catch Mount Vernon Christian, falling 51-46. The Red Devils will face Wellpinit at regionals.

At the 2A West Central District tournament, the Port Angeles girls team fell to Renton 45-36 on Saturday at Foss High School in Tacoma.

The Roughriders will face Burlington-Edison at regionals. Port Angeles beat the Tigers earlier this season.

Regionals will be played Friday or Saturday. Sites will be announced Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Port Townsend girls team saw its season come to an end with a 51-40 loss to Eatonville at the 1A Tri-District tournament.
