KINGSTON — The Port Angeles baseball team got a no-hitter and near perfect game from Kody Williams while Sequim won a crucial game to help its playoff positioning.
The Roughriders, winners of four straight and three straight in league, can lock up third place all to themselves with a win Wednesday over Kingston after press deadline. They could also clinch a winning record in league.
The Riders stymied the Buccaneers on Tuesday night 6-0 behind Williams’ gem. He allowed just one baserunner on a walk while another baserunner got on base on an error. He struck out four. It was the second shutout in a week for the Riders and the third one of the season.
It was actually a tight game as Port Angeles took a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning. The Riders blew the game open with a four-run fifth and Williams cruised the rest of the way.
Williams helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Rylan Politika was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Luke Flodstrom was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Josiah Gooding also had a hit, a run scored, an RBI and a walk.
Port Angeles (7-6, 8-10-1) played Kingston (4-9, 5-11) on Wednesday night and will then await its district tournament seeding.

BREMERTON — The Sequim baseball team won a critical game Tuesday against Bremerton 4-0 behind a three-hit shutout from Zeke Schmadeke.
With the victory, Sequim’s third straight, the Wolves are 6-7 in league with a chance to finish fourth or even third with another win Wednesday at home against last-place Bremerton (1-12 league).
Schmadeke pitched the entire game, giving up three hits and no walks, while striking out six.
At the plate, Hunter Tennell was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Lincoln Bear was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Bryant Laboy had a double and run scored, while Clay Abrams had a hit and an RBI.
After Wednesday’s game after press deadline, the Wolves will then wait for their seeding in the district tournament.
