PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles continued its hot run of play on the baseball diamond by sweeping a doubleheader against North Mason 10-0 in five innings and 11-3 on Tuesday at Civic Field.
The Roughriders (8-2, 11-3) improved to 8-0-1 in the month of April, including 5-0 in Olympic League play with the victories.
Ezra Townsend sparked Port Angeles in the 10-0 shutout, going 3-for-3 and scoring two runs.
Blake Sohlberg went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored, Colton Romero also drove in a pair of runs on a single and a pair of walks, and Alex Angevine was plunked by two pitches but scored each time for the Riders.
Elijah Flodstrom scattered five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in four innings on the mound to earn the win.
Flodstrom was perfect at the plate in the 11-3 win, going 4-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, three RBIs and four runs from the No. 3 spot in the Riders’ batting order.
Leadoff hitter Angevine did well to set the table, going 2-for-2 with a walk, a double, two stolen bases, an RBI and two runs.
Shumway added a pair of hits and walk with two RBIs and Kole Acker was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Port Angeles.
The Riders went by committee on the mound with Rylan Politika getting the start and the win in three innings pitched. Politika allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Romero allowed a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings of relief, Blake Sohlberg struck out the side in his inning of work and Brian Guttormsen had a strikeout in the seventh inning.
Port Angeles visits Bainbridge on Monday.
Sequim 4, Bremerton 1
SEQUIM — Toppy Robideau went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts, as the Wolves lanced the Knights at home Tuesday.
“Robideau pitched a gem,” Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said.
The Wolves led 1-0 after Lincoln Bear’s RBI single scored Bryant Laboy in the third inning.
Bremerton tied it up in the top of the fifth on a fielder’s choice to second, but the Wolves rallied.
Sequim retook the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on a triple by Bear to score Laboy. Ayden Holland followed with an RBI single to score Bear.
Sequim (3-7, 6-7) visits Bremerton today.
