FORKS — Forks played so well in a 60-29 win over Raymond that the Seagulls’ coach pulled his team from the floor with nearly a full fourth quarter to play.
Spartans coach David Hurn wants to make sure how his team played is what people take away from this game.
“We came out firing on all cylinders,” Hurn said. “We challenged their shots, they are perimeter based, so we got hands in shooters faces and limited them on second-chamce points. We rebounded well and limited their second-chance opportunities.”
Keira Johnson had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Kyra Neel also doubled up, with 16 points and 15 boards.
“I know how well we played will be overshadowed by what happened at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter.”
Raymond’s head coach was whistled for techinicals in quick succession to end the third and start the fourth quarter. At point, down 31 points, he pulled his team from the floor and ended the game.
“There was nothing really out of the ordinary before the technical fouls,” Hurn said. “There wasn’t a lot of build up, maybe it was a combo of how we were playing and the expectations he had for his team. I thought this was going to be a grinder.”
