PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Sequim’s Ellefson 19th at Nike Hole in the Wall

ARLINGTON — Sequim’s Colby Ellefson had an excellent race in this weekend’s Nike Hole in the Wall, finishing 19th in the men’s varsity gold division.

The varsity gold is the second-toughest class at the Hole in the Wall event, which featured thousands of the top runners from all school classifications in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Ellefson, who won the recent Salt Creek Invitational, finished with a 5K time of 16 minutes, 35.0 seconds, only one second behind his personal best.

Several other Sequim runners competed. Liberty Mavy was 94th in the women’s junior varsity gold race with a time of 23:43.2 and Cayden Beauregard was 98th in the men’s silver varsity race at 18:35.9.

Kaitlyn Bloomenrader, running in the difficult women’s varsity gold race, came in 145th with a time of 22:19.9.

Other Sequim racers who finished in the top 200 included:

Women’s junior varsity gold — Aspen Goldner, 134th, 24:54.1; Lilly Despain 145th, 25:15.5; Bridgett Pyeatt, 156th, 25:45.9; Mia Kirner, 163rd, 26:11.9.

Men’s junior varsity silver — Ari Skov, 175th, 21:06.8.
