PREP FOOTBALL: Kingston knocks down East Jefferson in opener

Bus issues force Quilcene to play Saturday at Naselle

PORT TOWNSEND — Missed blocks and missed tackles hurt East Jefferson in a season-opening 50-23 loss to Kingston on Friday night at Memorial Field.

“We just missed a lot of blocks watching film,” coach Tony Haddenham said.

“We missed a whole bunch of tackles. We are screaming to the ball, but we weren’t breaking down and making the tackles. So those are two areas we will work on this week.”

Cash Holmes completed 12 of 30 passes for 247 yards with two TDs and an interception on a night when the Rivals had trouble establishing the run against the Buccaneer’s big front line.

Gary Zambor hauled in three passes for 91 yards and both passing TDs.
