QUILCENE — Quilcene got over 200 yards rushing and 200 yards through the air and Olin Reynolds scored four touchdowns rushing, receiving and returning kicks in a 56-30 win over Oakville.
Crescent also won its Saturday football game 64-0 over Mary M. Knight.
The Rangers got 214 yards passing from quarterback Andy Johnston and a quartet of rushers gained a total of 256 yards on 19 carries. Eli Mahan led the Rangers with 106 yards rushing and a 30-yard touchdown.
Johnston passed 9 for 12 with two passing TDs to Reynolds. He also rushed for 54 yards on five carries. Holdem Elkins also had a 7-yard TD pass to Robert Comstock.
Reynolds had a 75-yard TD on a kickoff return, a 56-yard rushing TD and 46-yard and 6-yard TD receptions. He ended up with 107 yards receiving and 65 yards rushing.
Coach Trey Beathard said Jake Owens had 60 yards in returns and Comstock led the team with 16 tackles.
Beathard said it was the best game he’s seen Reynolds and Mahan have since he’s been the head coach. He also gave a lot of credit to the front line.
“The offensive line is doing a good job of protecting Andy. The guys up front are doing a good job of opening up holes,” Beathard said.
In two games this season, the Rangers (2-0) have scored a combined 118 points. Beathard said the Rangers’ next three games are huge — against a hot Crescent team on Sept. 23, followed by Rainier Christian and Tacoma Baptist.
“These three games will play a big part in what kind of season we’re going to have,” Beathard said.
