Elma 35, Forks 10
ELMA — With a district playoff spot on the line, the Spartans were knocked out of contention in a road loss to the Eagles (2-1, 7-1).
“They shut our run down and we just couldn’t get the passing game going for a variety of reasons,” Forks coach Emil West said. “The game plan didn’t come to fruition.”
Tristen Pisani had 26 carries for 96 yards for Forks and Brett Moody led the team with an 18-yard reception.
“Tristen still had a heck of a game,” West said. “He ran hard.
“Luke Dahlgren was making plays for us and our defense played dynamite. We just couldn’t get the offense going.”
West credited Elma for turning the tables on Forks after the Spartans beat the Eagles two years in a row in games that decided the Evergreen League’s third playoff seed.
“They committed and they got way better than the last two years we played them,” West said.
Forks (1-2, 5-3) will host league champion and No. 4 Hoquiam (3-0, 8-0) on senior night at Spartan Stadium on Friday.
“We will try to get our effort level to 100 percent and knock off the league champs and enjoy one last night with this senior class,” West said. “We didn’t reach our goal as far as making the playoffs, but this is a really talented group that got the program back on track.”
Vashon 22, Chimacum 13
VASHON — The Cowboys fell to the Pirates 22-13, though they had chances to pull the game out.
Issac Purser scored one touchdown on a 30-yard pass from Cole Dotson and Logan Storm scored another on a two-yard run (which was set up by a 40-yard Storm run.).
Coach Chris Storm thought a big play was when the Cowboys were setting up to kick a field goal to take a lead. They fumbled the snap and weren’t able to score.
“That hurt us,” coach Storm said.
“We’re just a young team late in the season,” he said. “I didn’t think we played up to our potential. We’ll get better.”
Chimacum (0-5, 1-7) will host Port Townsend in the Quimper Quarrel at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Field.
