“Beautiful day for golf on a beautiful golf course,” Port Angeles coach Gil Stockton said. “Skyler Cobb and Nate Drake took advantage and both played some terrific golf. Everyone gave it their best, but illness and grades pared the team down which made every shot count. Fun day though, and a great learning experience.”

Sequim 0, Klahowya 0
SEQUIM — The Wolves and Eagles tied in a nonleague contest Friday.
“The stats show we kind of dominated the game,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said. “Klahowya had one chance in each half and we had five good chances in the first and four in the second.
“We had some good scoring opportunities but came up a little bit short.”
Mathys Tanche and Ryan Tolberd each missed on breakaway opportunities early on and Tolberd was unlucky with a shot that glanced off the Klahowya goalkeeper off the far post and right back to the keeper.
A Kristian Mingoy header beat the Eagles goalkeeper but was cleared off the goal line by a Klahowya defender.
Two second-half corner kicks produced headers that went over the top of the goal (Reid Parker) and wide (Mike McAleer).
“We defended really well and only gave them the two chances. Rudy Franco at center back was our man of the match. He played really well.”
Sequim (4-0-0, 4-0-2) visits North Mason (1-2-0, 2-3-1) on Tuesday.
Forks 2, Hoquiam 1
HOQUIAM — The Forks boys overcame a slow start against Hoquiam, scoring two goals in the second half to win 2-1 in Hoquiam for the first time in five years.
After entering the half down 1-0 in Friday’s game, Tony Flores scored on a scramble in the penalty area … “blender in the box” as described by coach Joe Morton.
With the game now tied 1-1, the Spartans clamped down on defense, not allowing Hoquiam any solid chances.
“Our defense patched up their holes from their first game [a 2-1 loss to South Whidbey],” Morton said.
Oscar Gonzalez scored the game-winner with about 10 minutes left on a penalty kick. Gabe Terrones picked up the win in goal.
“This is my fifth year coaching in Forks and this is the first time we’ve ever won in Hoquiam. That alone is a big deal,” Morton said.
Forks (1-0, 1-1-0) will next play at Tenino (1-0, 1-1-1) at 7 p.m. Monday.
