Miley Blanton scores a hat trick

FORKS — The Forks girls soccer team got a hat trick from Miley Blanton in winning its first game of the year 4-0 over Ilwaco.

Kinley Rondeau also had her first-ever varsity goal, with an assist from Blanton.

Coach Ismael Ramos said the Spartans have been improving all season and that it finally paid off with a victory. The team is 1-5, but had its closest game of the year last week, a 6-4 loss to Winlock.

“We’ve been picking away at it every game. It’s exciting to see,” Ramos said.

He said freshman goalkeeper Pearl Salazar had her best game of the year in earning the shutout victory.

“That was her best game yet. She is becoming more confident. It’s really cool to watch her grow,” Ramos said.

Ramos also said the Spartans’ defense was stellar, led by Lillianna Galeana and Katelynn Wallerstedt.
