SEQUIM — Johnnie Young pitched a complete-game gem, allowing one run on five hits while striking out 10 and walking none in Sequim’s 10-1 dusting of North Mason at home Wednesday.

Young threw an efficient 79 pitches, 60 of them strikes, in his seven innings on the hill.

Helps own cause

He also got the Wolves on the board first, with an RBI single, as Sequim put four runs across in its first at-bats.

Michael Young led the Wolves at the plate going 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs, including a two-run double late to cap Sequim’s four-run fifth inning.

Silas Thomas added two RBIs and Brandon Barnett went 1 for 3 with a walk and two runs for the Wolves.

Sequim (1-1, 3-2) visited rival Port Angeles late Thursday. The Wolves finish a busy week by hosting Mount Tahoma on Saturday at 1 p.m., Sequim’s fourth game in six days.

PORT ANGELES — Ty Bradow’s two-run single in the bottom of the fourth was the difference as the Roughrider JV edged the Cowboys varsity Wednesday at Civic Field.

Jacob Felton added two hits and an RBI for Port Angeles and Beckett Jarnagin doubled home a run for the victors.

Cole Dotson went 2 for 4 with an RBI double and scored twice to lead Chimacum. Dotson also pitched two clean innings in relief, striking out four.

The Cowboys (3-3) visit Coupeville on Monday.

SEQUIM — The Wolves produced up and down the lineup at the plate with seven players recording hits to open Olympic League play with a win.

Isabelle Dennis, Christy Grubb, Bobbi Sparks, Latisha Robideau, Lily Fili, Kylynn Stringer and Madie Nute all recorded hits for Sequim.

Dennis picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run on two hits in five innings of work.

Stringer pitched the final two innings for the Wolves (1-0, 2-1).

Sequim and Port Angeles played each other late Thursday. The Wolves host Mount Tahoma in a nonleague game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Girls Tennis Sequim 6, Kingston 1

SEQUIM — The Wolves remained undefeated and tied atop the Olympic League standings with North Kitsap and Olympic after a win over the Buccaneers.

Emily Bundy and Chloe played the most competitive match of the day for Sequim, rallying after dropping the first set 6-3 to win 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.

The Wolves visited Bremerton late Thursday and host North Mason on Monday.

The Riders (3-2, 3-2) visited Kingston late Thursday and host Olympic on Monday.
