GRANITE FALLS — The Sequim baseball team rallied with three runs in the eighth inning and got great pitching performances from a trio of hurlers to hold off Granite Falls 4-1 Saturday for the Wolves’ first win of the year.
Sequim and Granite Falls went into extras tied 1-1. The Wolves rallied with three runs, then Connor Bear came in to pitch the eighth, striking out three straight batters to earn the win.
Ricky Jennings began the game, going six innings and allowing just one run on seven hits and one walk. He struck out one. Zach McCracken pitched the seventh, giving up one hit and striking out one.
At the plate, Ayden Holland led the way, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and two RBIs.
Jaxson Gray and Bear each had two hits and an RBI, while Brayden White went 2-for-4.
Sam Fitzgerald, Bryant Laboy and Jamison Gray all scored runs.
Sequim (0-6, 1-8) is next set to play at 6:30 p.m. today against Olympic Peninsula rival Port Angeles (2-3, 4-6).

East Jefferson at Birger Solberg Invite
BELLINGHAM — East Jefferson’s Tusker Behrenfeld finished an impressive second place in the javelin against competitors from 33 other schools at the Birger Solberg Invitational track and field meet held in Bellingham this weekend.
The meet featured 3A and 4A schools from all around western Washington.
Going up against athletes from bigger programs, Behrenfeld nearly took first in the javelin with a throw of 161 feet, 5½ inches. The event was won by Andrew Nelson of 3A Ferndale with a distance of 175-4½. The next best throw was 150-4.
Behrenfeld has the second-longest distance in the javelin at the 1A level so far this spring at 163-1.
At the Solberg Invite, he also finished 11th in the discus with a throw of 113-8.
There were several other East Jefferson athletes who placed in the top 10 in their events, in particular the Rival girls.
The girls 4×800 relay team (Aliyah Yearian, Lia Poore, Fiona Fraser and Camryn Hines) finished fourth with a time of 11 minutes, 5.15 seconds.
Moore was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 32-9, a personal record, while Hines was fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.36, also a personal record and the fourth-best 1A time in the state so far this spring.
Yearian was seventh in the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:28.42, while Fraser was 19th in the 3,200 meters (13:07.30). Melody Douglas was 20th in the shot put (25-7¾).
For the East Jefferson boys, Sebastian Manza was fourth in the 2K steeplechase in a time of 6 minutes, 53.39 seconds. Anson Jones was 12th in the shot put (40-3¼), while Gage Barry was 21st in the same event (36-10¾). Barry also finished 18th in the discus (105-6).
Soare Johnston was 20th in the 3,200 meters (10:29.20) and the East Jefferson 4×400 team (Johnston, Ben Martin, Indigo Gould and Tristen Herbig) was 25th with a time of 10:49.60.
Glen Dawson was 35th in the 1,600 meters (4:56.65).
The East Jefferson girls finished 17th out of 37 schools, while the boys finished 22nd out of 34. Seattle Prep won the girls meet while North Creek won the boys.
East Jefferson’s next meet is Tuesday at Klahowya.
