PREP ROUNDUP: Sequim, East Jefferson baseball teams win

BELFAIR — The Sequim baseball team got huge games from Zeke Schmadeke and Lincoln Bear to win its fifth straight game, 9-1 over North Mason.

The win streak gets Sequim right in the thick of the playoff hunt. The Wolves have a solid chance to finish third among the 2A schools in the Olympic League.

Schmadeke pitched five innings in Monday’s win, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out five. At the plate, he was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, two steals and two RBIs.

Bear was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple, scoring a run and driving in one as he and Schmadeke had seven of Sequim’s 12 hits. He also stole a base. Bryant Laboy pitched two innings, allowing two hits, one earned run and striking out two. He also had a hit at the plate and scored two runs. Logan Doyle, Hunter Tennell and Ethan Staples each had a hit and an RBI.
