Port Angeles 7, Kingston 0

KINGSTON — The Port Angeles boys tennis team swept the Buccaneers on the road Tuesday to go to 10-1 on the season.

“I knew going in that Kingston has quite a few new players, so I decided to give our seniors the day off so some of our younger players could get some experience and they did very well. For many of them, this was their first varsity action and I couldn’t be happier with the result,” said coach Brian Gundersen.

Some of the Roughriders’ younger players got to play against Kingston. While Nathan Basden and Reid Schmidt easily won their singles matches, Matthew Miller had a very close match, pulling out a 7-6, 7-6 win over his opponent.

The doubles teams of Luke Flodstrom/Tate Alton, Carter Gundersen/Austin Worthington, CJ Elliott/Keatyn Hoch and Garret Buerer/Grant Butterworth all won in straight sets.

The Riders finish their regular season at 4 p.m. today with a home match against Sequim and then play in the Olympic 2A League tournament Oct. 18 and 19.
