PREP SOFTBALL: Roughriders belt a pair of grand slams in win over Bulldogs

Natalie Robinson adds a two-run home run, seventh of the year

PORT ANGELES — The No. 1-ranked Port Angeles softball team pounded out three home runs, including grand slams from Ava-Anne Sheahan and Lindsey Smith, while crushing North Mason 20-0 in five innings.

Natalie Robinson hit the other home run, a two-run shot, and a double. She finished with four RBIs. It was her seventh home run of the year and she is up to 25 RBIs in just 14 games.

Lindsay Smith finished with five RBIs. Kennedy Rognlien also hit a double, Lexie Smith was 2-for-2 with a sac fly and three RBIs. Becca Manson had a hit and two RBIs.

In the pitcher’s circle, three Roughriders’ pitchers combined to allow two hits and strike out 10.

Heidi Leitz allowed one hit in two innings and struck out five. Lynzee Reid allowed one hit and one walk in two innings and struck out two, and Sophia Ritchie pitched one inning, striking out the side.

Port Angeles (9-0, 13-1) will try to remain perfect in the Olympic League as they play at a good Olympic (6-3, 11-3) squad at 4:15 p.m. today.

SEQUIM — The Sequim softball team got huge games from Taylee Rome and Ava Ritter but fell to Bremerton 11-7.

Rome was 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, two runs scored, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases. Over her past three games, she is 10-for-13 and has raised her season batting average to .667.

Ritter was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. She also scored a run. Mikki Green was 2-for-2 with a run, RBI and three stolen bases. Hannah Giddings hit a double.

In the circle, Rome pitched three innings, allowing two hits and an earned run while striking out four.

Sequim (1-7, 2-9) will next play at North Kitsap (6-1, 8-4) at 4:15 p.m. today.

FORKS — The Forks softball team extended its winning streak to five games, crushing North Beach in a doubleheader 29-4 and 20-5.

Forks pounded out 26 hits in the first game, including seven doubles. Keira Johnson was 4-for-5 with a double, five runs scored and an RBI, while Lizzy Soto was 5-for-5 with two doubles, three stolen bases, five runs and five RBIs.

Fynlie Peters was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and five RBIs, and Kaidence Rigby was 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Soto pitched the entire game, allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out seven.

In the late game, Kendsie Thompson had a hit, two RBIs, two walks and three runs scored. Bailey Johnson pitched the entire game, allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out 11 in just five innings.

Forks (5-0, 9-3) looks to have tougher games Friday as the Spartans next play a doubleheader at Ocosta (2-1, 10-2).
