CHIMACUM — A scoreless first quarter was too much for the Chimacum boys basketball team overcome against Cascade Christian.
The Cougars scored 14 unanswered points to open the game, then kept the Cowboys at a distance en route to a 52-36 win at Chimacum High School on Saturday.
Jesse Howells led Cascade Christian with 18 points and Vann Hoffman added 14.
Chimacum played the Cougars fairly tight after the first, but was unable to chip away at the deficit and get back in the game.
John Carthum paced the Cowboys with 10 points, while Orion Weller contributed 10.
Chimacum is off until Friday when it hosts fifth-ranked Vashon Island.

Sequim duo miss out on state
TACOMA — Sequim bowlers Kelsey Van Dyken and Karli Furguson concluded their impressive seasons at the West Central District Tournament at Pacific Lanes.
Van Dyken rolled games of 135, 126 and 135 for a total score of 396.
Furguson finished Saturday with a score of 321 after games of 124, 110 and 87.
