MAPLE VALLEY — The Port Townsend cross country team opened its season at the Tahoma Coed Relays at Lake Wilderness Park.
Senior Ryan Clarke, last year’s All-Peninsula Cross Country MVP, had the Redhawks best time, finishing his 3-kilometer stretch in 11 minutes, 48 seconds.
Port Townsend’s top girl finisher Saturday was senior Hanna Trailer with a time of 16:05, just one second ahead of freshman Ally Bradley.
The Redhawks had 12 runners competing, with each running a 3K leg of a 15K relay. In order to balance genders for the relays, two of the three Port Townsend relay teams included girls from Lake Washington High School.
The Redhawks will next compete at the Salt Creek Invitational in Port Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 20.
