SEQUIM — The Sequim boys golf team continued its winning streak by beating Port Townsend 407-468 at the Cedars at Dungeness.
The Wolves have won five consecutive Olympic League matches and are tied with Port Angeles for second place at 5-1.
Klahowya sits fairly comfortably at top of the standings at 6-0, having handed the Wolves and Roughriders their lone league losses of the season.
Sequim notched the top five scores in Wednesday’s match with the Redskins.
Leading the way was senior Anthony Pinza, who began with an impressive 1-over-par 38 on the front nine and held on to shoot a 79, his first competitive sub-80 round of the year.
One stroke behind Pinza was sophomore Jack Shea with an 80. Travis Priest also had a solid performance with an 81.
Rounding out the scores for Sequim was Jesse Francis, who shot an 83, and Alex McCrackin with an 84.
“I was very impressed with all players today,” Wolves coach Jack Shea said.
“The consistency and depth of our team is our greatest strength. To have the top five players all shot within six shots of each other is a testament to all the hard work they are putting in on their games.”
Jack Bishop led Port Townsend (3-3) with an 87, one stroke better than teammate Patrick Morton.
Zack Glover shot a 92, Lucas Foster had a 100 and Austin Khile finished at 101.

Sequim earns two easy league wins
SEQUIM — The Wolves beat Port Townsend and Bremerton merely by showing up, literally, but ended up playing some good golf at the Cedars at Dungeness.
Neither the Redskins nor the Knights had a golfer travel to Wednesday’s match, so Sequim picked up two Olympic League wins.
The Wolves went out and shot their lowest team score of the season, 253.
Freshman Alex McMenamin shot a 37, which moves her ahead of Port Angeles’ Dana Fox for the league’s best nine-hole average.
McMenamin is now at 40.2 and Fox is at 41.5.
Brianna Kettel also broke 50 for the Wolves with a 49. Kailee Price shot a 52, Kelly Anders had a 57, Megan O’Mera finished at 58 and Cecilee Wech had a 60.
Sequim is tied for the league lead with Kingston at 6-0.
The Wolves will be playing in today’s Duke Streeter Invitational at Peninsula Golf Club.

Port Angeles 6, Olympic 1
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders finally put away the winless Trojans midway through the second half to earn an important three points.
Port Angeles (6-6, 17 points) led 2-0 at halftime off a rebound goal by Jackson May in the ninth minute and a score by Tim Schneider in the 33rd minute, but coach Chris Saari said the Riders could have had
more goals.
“[We] had a lot of good opportunities in the first half that they failed to take advantage of,” Saari said following Wednesday’s match.
Olympic rallied and cut Port Angeles’ lead to 2-1 early in the second half on a penalty kick taken by Nick Decker in the 42nd minute.
Then the Riders finally took off.
In the 52nd minute, Port Angeles left back Jeff Glatz beat a couple of Olympic defenders and crossed a perfect pass to Wei-Yan Fu for a goal that made it 3-1.
The Riders continued to pour it on.
May scored his second goal of the game in the 57th minute on an Agustin Muller assist.
One minute later, Fu scored his second goal of the game with a nicely placed header off a cornerkick by Schneider.
Scott Methner then finished off the scoring for Port Angeles with a breakaway goal assisted by Muller in the 68th minute.
Saari named May and Schneider his team’s offensive players of the match and Fu, Glatz and Muller the top transition players.
The Riders have a three-game, eight-point lead for fifth place in the Olympic League, and trail Klahowya by two games and eight points for fourth place.
Port Angeles plays at North Kitsap (9-2, 27 points) tonight. The Vikings are coming off a 2-0 loss to Kingston, which drops North Kitsap to third place behind the Buccaneers and Sequim (both 10-2, 30 points).

Port Angeles JV 4
QUILCENE — The Rangers improved to 11-1 by beating the talented Port Angeles JV squad.
Pitcher Sammy Rae remained perfect on the season with a 9-0 record, striking out seven and allowing three earned runs in seven innings.
“We really enjoy playing Port Angeles. They are always well coached and have a great approach to the game,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said after Wednesday’s game.
“We are playing really well right now. The challenge for us will be to continue using every day as an opportunity to become even better.”
The Rangers opened up a 5-1 lead with a four-run second inning and held on from there.
Megan Weller smashed a three-run home run in the second, while Alexis Gray added a RBI double two batter later that scored Rae.
The Riders made it interesting in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Nikki Price and an RBI single by Hope Wegner, but the Rangers’ defense shut the door over the last two innings.
Quilcene hosts Highland Christian today at 3:45 p.m.

SILVERDALE — The young Wolves have hit a rough patch, losing for the fourth time in five games.
The Eagles (7-5, 9-6), meanwhile, have won five straight and have moved within a half game of Sequim (7-4, 9-5) and Olympic (7-4, 9-5) for second place in the Olympic League.
The Wolves opened Wednesday’s games with a two-run first inning, but Klahowya responded with seven runs in its half of the first to take a 7-2 lead.
Sequim rallied for five runs in the top of the third to tie the score, but the Eagles put up two more in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good at 9-7. They tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning.
Ian Dennis had two hits and an RBI for the Wolves, while Dylan Lott doubled and drove in two runs. Nigel Christian also had two RBIs for Sequim.
The Wolves play at Bremerton (5-5, 6-6) today.

Track and Field
PT’s Stewart wins two events
BELFAIR — Port Townsend senior Rebecca Stewart was a double winner at the Olympic League double dual hosted by North Mason.
Stewart won the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet and 11 inches, which is the top mark on the North Olympic Peninsula this season.
Stewart also took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.84 seconds. Teammate Makayla Deen took second in the event.
The Redskins had three winners on the boys side.
Anders Lolie won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.25 seconds and Ryan Clarke placed first in the 800-meter run (2:06.16).
Port Townsend also won the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 46.89 seconds by the team of Zach Wilson, Lolie, Skyler Coppenrath and Seren Dances.
The Redskins will next compete at the Mountlake Terrace Invitational on Saturday.
