YAKIMA — The Roughriders sent 10 boys and four girls to the Sunfair Invitational last weekend to compete on the hilly 3-mile course at Franklin Park.

“After all the rain, and rain, and rain of the last two weeks, it was like going to Miami Beach when [we] drove over the pass to compete in the Sunfair Invitational,” Port Angeles coach Pat Durr said.

“The weather was sunny and chilly in the morning, but warmed up nicely in the early afternoon.”

The invite featured 40 teams from four states and Canada.

The Roughriders had 10 boys competing in eight different races, while the girls had four runners competing in three different races. In the meet, all the No. 1 runners run with each other, as do the No. 2s and so on. There also were separate races for freshman and sophomores.
