RENTON — Port Angeles finished second and broke a meet record at the district meet at Hazen High School.
Taylor Beebe, Carter Juskevich, Jaine Macias and Audra Perrizo set the new record by swimming the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 54.72 seconds.
The Roughriders finished with 202 points, behind only Liberty, which had 267 points.
Port Townsend placed sixth and Sequim was 11th.
The state meet will be Friday at Saturday at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Macias had Port Angeles’ top individual performance, placing second in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke
She also swam with the Riders’ runner-up 400 freestyle relay, along with Juskevich, Perrizo and Beebe.
Juskevich placed third in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200 freestyle; Perrizo took fourth in 100 freestyle and sixth in the 200 free; Kylee Reid was fourth in the 500 free and seventh in the 200 individual medley.

Ridder leads Redhawks
Port Townsend’s Rose Ridder made state in diving, an individual event and two relays.
“That’s a very impressive accomplishment and one that it rarely matched,” Redhawks coach Peter Braden said.
Ridder broke her own school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.62 seconds, which earned her third place.
Teammate Chloe Rogers finished eighth in the 50 free, one spot away from a state berth, but Braden hopes she will earn a wildcard spot at state.
Rogers did qualify for state in the 100 free with a fifth-place showing.
All three Port Townsend relays advanced to state.
The 200 medley team of Sarah Allen, Tanner Matthew, Carinna Snider and Ismay Gale finished fifth.
The 200 free relay team of Ridder, Gale, Matthew and Rogers took fourth and dropped almost 4 seconds from their previous season-best time.
The final event of the day, in which Port Townsend’s 400 free relay team of Ridder, Gale, Matthew and Rogers finished sixth and broke the school record by almost 3 seconds.
In only its second year of diving, Port Townsend took three divers to districts: Ridder, Hannah Welch (a senior in her first year of diving) and Keira Matkins.
Welch made it to the second round of competition and Ridder finished fourth overall.
“Coach Andy Ridder has done an amazing job with these girls,” Braden said.
Without a diving board at their home pool, the Redhawks divers practice in Sequim on Friday evening and Saturday morning, each day for only one hour.
Barrows qualifies
For Sequim, Dani Barrows qualified for state by placing sixth in the 200 individual medley.
Emily Van Dyken placed 12th in diving for the Wolves.

Tulalip Heritage 82, Clallam Bay 60
MARYSVILLE — Casey Randall’s big day wasn’t enough for Clallam Bay, which closed out its football season with an 82-60 loss to Tulalip Heritage.
Randall, a senior playing the final game of his high school career, played a part in all nine of the Bruins’ touchdowns.
Randall ran for three scores, passed for three and returned two kickoffs and one interception for touchdowns.
He also led the team in tackles with 22.
“It was pretty much the Casey Randall show,” Clallam Bay coach Cal Ritter said after Saturday’s game.
“I can’t say enough about the kid.
“My goodness.”
The Bruins and Hawks originally were scheduled to play at on Oct. 25, but the shootings at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, where Quil Ceda Stadium is located, the day before postponed the game.
Randall was honored with some flowers as a senior playing his
final game.
Ritter said Randall took his flowers and added them to a memorial near the field for the students who died in the shootings.
“That’s just an attribute to his character,” Ritter said.
“I’m really going to miss that kid.”
Clallam Bay fell behind early due to a pair of interceptions. The Bruins recovered, but never could overcome the early deficit.
Eighth-grader Clayton Willis caught two of Randall’s touchdown passes and Sam Signor hauled in the other.
Clallam Bay ends the season with a 4-5 record, including 1-4 in the North Olympic League.
Although the Bruins lose senior leaders Randall and Kelly Gregory, Ritter is excited about the future.
“We gave some young kids that made remarkable improvements,” Ritter said.
