QUILCENE — The Quilcene girls basketball team won a 30-29 squeaker against Rainier Christian.
“A high volume of turnovers, sloppy play, and rushed effort made for an ugly game,” Rangers coach Briana Weller said after Tuesday’s game.
“I hope the girls will look at the game tape and see for themselves the mistakes that were made.
“Our goal as a team is to learn from these mistakes and come out playing smarter and stronger the next time out on the floor.”
Junior Sammy Rae came up big for Quilcene, pulling down 24 rebounds and scoring 10 points.
“She had a monster game defensively,” Weller said.
“Offensively, she struggled as the Mustangs double-teamed her most of the night.”
Megan Weller scored 10 points to share high-scoring honors with Rae.
Allison Jones and Katie Bailey each contributed four points each.
The Rangers travel to face Northwest Yeshiva tonight.
